Magnetization of an electrical sheet sample of any form

In co-operation with a customer different yokes for the determination of the magnetic characteristics of electrical sheet samples of any form were examined.

In the two following illustrations FEM calculations for two yoke forms are represented.

In the fig. 1 the field in the electrical sheet is showed, which results from use an U-shaped yoke.

Illustration 1

In the illustration 2 the field strength H (left) and the induction B (right) in and outside of the electrical sheet are represented by use of a ring-core yoke. The ring-shaped core was slitted (wire-eroded) parallel to the axis. The sheet closes as secant the magnetic circle.

Illustration 2

In the two representations the air gap between yoke and sheet sample was not considered.

Several prototypes of this form of yoke were manufactured.

Parallel to the development and test of the yoke also different sensors for the measurement of the field strength H and the polarization J and/or flux density B were examined.

A yoke system for the determination of the magnetic characteristics of electrical sheet samples of any form should be developed . Before manufacturing of selected yokes the field  in the sample was computed during excitation by two-pole yokes. Beside possible yoke forms also different sensor systems were examined.
