Measuring Systems

We predominantly offer measuring systems for the investigation of soft magnetic materials. Their common characteristics are described in the section magnet measuring technique.
Soft magnetic materials are delivered as sheet or strips of FeSi- or FeNi-steel, powders or powder cores as well as semi-finished material in solid form (round bars, profiles).

During from the sheet and strips usually

  • stamped parts and laminated packages
  • tape-wound cores

are produced, the powders are pressed with different bonding agents

  • to finaldimensionnear cores or components

The form that magnetically to examining specimens is accordingly different:

  • strips with EPSTEIN framework (IEC 60404-2)
  • sheets with the SST (IEC 60404-3)
  • sheets/ strips with Double-C-Yoke
  • laminated packages
  • wounde cores.

Powders and solid materials are examined in the form of

  • circular cores (IEC 60404-4)
  • rod-shaped samples (IEC 60404-4)

whereby the field direction falls in the length direction.

Measuring systems for the determination of the magnetostriction

During the measurement of magnetostriction the connection between the magnetization and the magnetically caused deformations is determined. The size of these magnetostrictive length variations λ = Δl/l0 is with λ ≈ 10-6 – 10-5 .
The value λ(B) depends on the size and the waveform of the flux density B(t) in the material, on the composition and of structure parameters of the material.
The magnetostrictive length variations λ can be positive or negative.
A positive value λ = Δl/l0 > 0 means a length increase in direction of magnetization, an expansion of the crystal lattice.
As measuring sensors strain gauges DMS are used.
